Dorset Knobs from Moores Biscuits have returned to the shelves at Modbury Farm Shop!
We're all doing a little happy dance and are thrilled to have them back in our favourite spot.
What is a Dorset Knob and what's all the fuss about? Our search engine tells us this blog post is the most popular for visitors to the site to hunt for. It's on the London crowd's radar, and apparently, Bristol folk are also keen to bag a few Dorset Knobs!
A cosy corner in a muddy world
Here at Modbury Farm Shop we are living a Lensomy Lifestyle, we sit right in the middle of it all: real working farmland, real weather, real mud. Our shop – a beautifully restored former shippon – has seen more wet wellies and dripping coats than we can count.
Inside, though, it’s all about:
Warmth and welcome
Local and organic produce with real stories behind it
Shelves full of things that make bad weather feel… not so bad
Dorset Knobs are a perfect fit: traditional, slightly eccentric, and built for the kind of climate where a good cuppa and a biscuit are practically a survival strategy.
“Lensomy” means unconditional love, and on days when the sky can’t decide between drizzle and downpour, unconditional love looks a lot like a hot drink, a few Knobs on a plate, and the heating on.
Limited stock: once they’re gone, that’s it until next Knob Season

We can’t just call up and get more whenever we like. Knob Season is short, special, and strictly limited. Once this batch is gone, that’s it until next time – no discounts, no deals, no endless supply.
Every year there’s a particularly rainy week when people come splashing in, ask for Dorset Knobs, and we have to say, “You’ve just missed them.”
We would much rather you had them ready in the cupboard for the next wet weekend.
So if you:
Are already a Dorset Knob devotee
Have never tried them but need a wet‑weather pick‑me‑up
Want a very Dorset souvenir from a very Dorset kind of day…
…don’t wait for the next storm (it’ll be here soon enough).

Dorset Knobs info
Enjoying Dorset Knobs:
* Dorset Knobs are typically eaten with cheese, particularly Dorset Blue Vinny.
* They can also be savoured with butter, dipped in tea or cider, or paired with honey and cream (referred to as “thunder and lightning”).
* The author Thomas Hardy was known to enjoy Dorset Knobs with Blue cheese.
But what are they?
Dorset Knobs are a traditional, small, round, and crumbly biscuit from Dorset, England, celebrated for their distinctive flavour and texture.
They are made from leftover bread dough, enriched with butter and sugar, and baked three times for a crispy, dry finish.
Dorset Knobs were first made by bakers in West Dorset, likely sometime before 1860 .

Dorset Knob Accompaniment Parcel
Dorset Knobs are too special to eat on their own – so we’ve put together a Dorset Knob Accompaniment Parcel inspired by the way they’ve been enjoyed for generations.
This parcel is designed to give you the full, traditional Dorset Knob experience, including:
Open Air Dairy Cheddar The classic partner for Dorset Knobs. Crumble or slice it on top for the most traditional (and very Dorset) way to enjoy them.
A rich, local butter simple but perfect: spread thick, add a pinch of sea salt if you like, and you’ve got a timeless West Country snack.
Honey & cream for “thunder and lightening nod to the old‑fashioned treat: drizzle honey and a spoon of thick cream over your Knobs for a decadent dessert‑style indulgence.
Extra Dorset Blue Vinny (for the Hardy-inspired touch)Thomas Hardy was known to enjoy strong blue cheese with his Knobs, so we lean fully into tradition by keeping Dorset Blue Vinny front and centre.
A proper Dorset brew We recommend serving your Knobs with a pot of Clipper tea – or a glass of good Dorset Nectar cider if you’re feeling particularly West Country.
Pair this parcel with a bag (or two) of Dorset Knobs and you’ve got history, tradition and a very tasty Dorset evening in one box.
