Tim and Lucinda welcome you to Modbury Farm Shop, where farm-fresh produce, Dorset-made delights, and a Lensomy Lifestyle come together to nourish body, mind, and community.

Our Story

Modbury Farm Shop is nestled in the historic farmyard of Modbury Farm, housed within a beautifully restored shippon — once home to cows and sheep, now a welcoming space for community, connection, and great food.

The previous owners, who continue to farm at Modbury, first opened the shop in 2007. Over the years, it became a much-loved hub for locals and visitors alike. In May 2023, neighbours Tim and Lucinda Ackland took over the day-to-day running of the business, officially reopening as Modbury Farm Shop – A Lensomy Lifestyle on a glorious sunny Bank Holiday.

What Lensomy Means

Lensomy is an old Sanskrit word meaning unconditional love, and this philosophy sits at the heart of everything we do. Every product we stock is chosen with care — not just for quality, but for the values and integrity of the people behind it. Food carries energy, and when it’s grown, made, and sourced with respect for the land and community, that care can be felt.

By supporting our neighbours, championing local producers, and creating a space where Dorset makers can share their goods, we aim to nourish more than just appetites — we nurture connection.

What You’ll Find Here

Our shelves are filled with local and organic produce, largely from the surrounding area and the South West. Occasionally we select products from further afield in the UK when they represent the very best quality.

Alongside the farm’s own produce, fresh eggs, and meat reared here at Modbury Farm, you’ll also discover:

  • Milk from Liberty Dairy, ethically produced once-daily from happy cows, loved by locals for coffee, cheese, and kefir

  • Free-range, sustainably farmed meat from the farm and trusted local Dorset butchers

  • Freshly baked bread, including sourdough, gluten-free options, and daily deliveries from the historic Evershot Bakery

  • Vegan options including our fire-baked pizzas

  • Seasonal fruit and vegetables

  • Specialist and artisan products from Dorset makers

  • Thoughtfully curated Dorset-grown and Dorset-made goods

  • Pure wool garments designed by Lensomy Knits, crafted with natural yarn from the shepherdesses of the Bride Valley

  • Natural yarn from the Bride Valley shepherdesses, available for sale so you can craft your own Dorset-inspired creations

Everything we source has its own story. Every item has been chosen with intention.

We are also a fully licensed farm shop, so you can enjoy Dorset food and responsibly-sourced drinks alongside our wholesome produce.

Whether visiting in person, wandering our farmyard, or shopping online with click & collect or local delivery, we want your experience at Modbury Farm Shop to feel joyful, nourishing, and connected.

We believe food should feel joyful.
And that joy is something you can taste.

Meet Tim & Lucinda

Tim and Lucinda live next door to Modbury Farm at Berwick, just a 10-minute walk away.

Lucinda is a therapist and knitwear designer, bringing her love of wellbeing, mindfulness, and natural fibres to Modbury Farm Shop. She fell in love with everything about the area — the farm, the community, and the shop itself. She designs Lensomy Knits and curates yarn from the shepherdesses of the Bride Valley, celebrating sustainable craft and Dorset artisans. When the opportunity arose to take over the shop, it felt like a natural progression to continue the wonderful work of the previous owners while supporting a thriving working farm.

Tim has spent his career in hospitality and retail, but he wasn’t ready to retire! He also fell for the Modbury area, particularly the local golf course in Bridport, which gives him the perfect work-life balance and makes him genuinely happy.

Together, they bring a mix of business experience, creativity, and a focus on wellbeing, making Modbury Farm Shop a destination for Dorset food, sustainable craft, and mindful experiences.

Always Lensomy
